went up to the lune last night, conditions were perfect, caught a small peal of just over a pound in the top pool, then lost a nice fish at the net as it jumped on a tight line in the next pool down. quite a lot of fish about showing in the pools. Landed and returned a big brown about midnight, then all went quiet.... Has anyone seen any fish on the Hodder? went up last week during the day, carrying a bit of colour, but nothing!!!

Only fished the ribble at Mitton a couple of times, towards the end of the season. But a good friend fishes it regulary. There is a chance of a good mixed bag there. There are lots of smaller trout with the occasional big one thrown in. Plenty of chub, and with the recent rain if you catch the river with a touch of colour there is also the chance of conecting with a seatrout or salmon.

Been speaking to a few people who have fished at tickle trout, and have caught chub, brown and rainbow trout. can anyone tell me where i can purchase a day ticket, costs and parking, and how to gain access to the river. Many thanks Craig youngish Blackburn flyfisher.

day tickets were from the BP garage next to the tickled trout, but they pulled the garage down a couple of weeks ago. the car park behind is also now fenced off. There is parking on the slip road there but not sure now who owns the land down to the river. Your best bet for day ticket fishing is at Mitton, just outside Whalley. tickets on the ribble there are available from the Aspinall Arms. The stretch there is very good with some good runs for the fly angler.

Have not had much luck on the Ribble, but have found the Lune to be fishing well for sea trout. Lots of fish splashing about and coming short to the fly. Had a 6lb fresh fish last month landed just after midnight on a dark night just from the rocks above the church pool, took a 2in tube fished figure of eight very slowly on sink tip line accross what was already a very slow river. Long treck but given good conditions is definately our best bet at the moment. Have been up there 3 times within last month and only landed the one fish but have lost fish on each visit and had lots of pulls and excitment as the fish have been crashing around the pools. please keep posting if any news of fish moving up our rivers happens.... thanks
